The immediate Area

The cottage is set in beautiful countryside between Tocane st Apre and Montagrier in the Dronne Valley. It is in a peaceful location, yet only moments away from the local facilities. The scenery is nothing less than spectacular and the Dronne River with its weir and rich wildlife is just 300 metres from the cottage (perfect for an after dinner stroll). The fields are full of sunflowers and the walnut trees are beginning to weight heavy with the years bumper crop. A perfect place to unwind …. and a fantastic place for a holiday.

Montagrier (400 metres) is at the top of the hill with its outstanding Roman church and fabulous look out point from which the beauty of the Dronne Valley can be fully appreciated. There is a typical French bar and restaurant where you can dine 'al fresco' in the courtyard under the grapevines. You can then stroll the 400 metres down hill back to the cottage, or walk around the small back roads and alley's and discover some of the great architecture that is typical of this region.

Tocane st Apre (1km) is at the bottom of the hill and boasts a supermarche, banks and a range of shops. There is a large church in the square and bars and cafes with outside seating to watch the world go by on a hot summer's day.

Monday is market day and a hive of activity. You need to get up early for your outside café seating on Mondays.

It is typical in France that there is a celebration of some kind nearly every week and Tocane never misses the opportunity to join in the celebration.
