W h a t A b o u t S h u t e y
Well I'm English, born in the small town of Laindon in Essex not far from
London, which as everyone knows is the centre of the world. You don't agree? Okay, so
where is the Greenwich Mean Line? I rest my case.
Seriously though, the London area is a great place but there are nicer
places, though they do lack one thing - the best football team in the world - West
Ham United. Stop it, you are not allowed to laugh when I mention West Ham United!
I lived in Laindon until I was 21 during which I worked in London as a
heating and ventilating draughtsman for a couple of years before switching to civil
engineering as a technician for a local development corporation. I left home to take up a
job in Guildford, Surrey staying in civil engineering. At 23, I moved from the south to the
midlands, to Wigston in Leicestershire and became an Assistant Engineer designing highways
and traffic schemes.
Since coming to Wigston there have been two significant changes in my life, I've become single again and I've had a carrer change. In 2002 I left civil engineering to become my company's Webmaster. Even though I had been developing the web site for over three years part time, turning my back on civil engineering was still a wrench.
Away from the office I spend most of my time developing web sites for work
and others or doing the sort of research and testing it isn't possible to do in the
noisy environment of a busy office - sad aren't I!
